Top 5 MTV Cribs

MTV Cribs (2000-2009) is easily one of the most influential shows of the 2000s. In the show, celebrities would give viewers a tour of their homes, cars, pools, and anything else they wanted to boast about. The first episode aired on October 5th of 2000 and featured Master P and Ozzy Osbourne. Master P was dripped💧 out in his crib with Lil Romeo, and the Osbourne's reminded me of the Adams Family 🦇. The beauty in MTV Cribs is that it gave fans the opportunity to get a glimpse into the lives of their idols. It was so popular, that Dave Chapelle made a skit for his MTV Cribs episode 🤣🤣🤣. Anyways, here's a list of the Top 5 MTV Cribs, and the celebrities that flaunted their extravagant sanctuaries.

#5 Snoop Dogg

(5 BEDROOMS, 31/2 BATHROOMS, 2 STUDIOS, 1 POOL, 1 BASKETBALL COURT)

Claremont, California

Air Date: October 18th, 2000

Snoop Dogg, the crip walking slick-talking rasta, has one of the dopest🌳 episodes of MTV Cribs. While sporting a Willie McGinest Patriots jersey, Snoop guides viewers through his West Coast home. He shows us his music awards, extensive movie collection, and also pays respect to Dick Clark & Anita Baker. His basketball court has a huge Los Angeles Lakers logo in the middle and a bench with the artwork for his 2001 album, Tha Doggfather. For a guide on how to watch this episode, read an article from Dr. Strainlove ✌.

#4 Mariah Carey

(3 Bedrooms, 5 1/2 Bath, Movie Room)

Tribeca, NYC

Air Date: January 29, 2002

Mariah Carey is one of the greatest singers of all-time, a pioneer of R&B, and has an insane crib in downtown New York. Her crib was so amazing that she had an episode all to her self. The three-story pent-house featured a view of the Empire State Building and NYC skyline🗽. She also changes six times throughout the whole tour and even shows off her lingerie closet 👙. Through the tour, we see a more realistic side of Mariah Carey and can see how funny and quirky she is. She also has a really sexy hot tub scene that's must-watch.

#3 Redman

(2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Ironing Board, XXX Movies, Walk-In Closet)

Staten Island, New York

Air Date: Mar 6, 2001

Redman's tour of his house in Staten Island has to be the funniest episode of MTV Cribs and definitely deserves its place in the pantheon. The episode seems as if Redman forgot that MTV was coming over and partied late the night before. His room is messy and everything is all over the place. He calls his closet a walk-in closet, but it's half the size of a regular closet. And most importantly, he loves frozen fish🐟. In an interview on Vlad TV, Redman says that MTV Cribs tried to make him rent a house for the episode. Honestly, he might've been stoned for this one ladies and gentleman.

#2 The Playboy Mansion

(26 Bedrooms, 7 Girlfriends, Grotto)

Los Angeles, California

Air Date: Oct 14, 2002

MTV's Playboy Mansion tour by Hugh Hefner and his playmates stands at second on this list. It really gives us a peek into the lifestyle of Hugh Hefner, which was pretty censored. Throughout the tour, he talks about parties he puts on at his home, which are sure to hold celebrities like Britney Spears, Akon, and Snoop Dogg. He has an insane art collection, including an original painting by one of my favorite artists, Jackson Pollock. Also, one of his seven girlfriends, Tiffany, has a baby monkey🐒 . From his pool to the beautiful grotto and the assortment of women in his home, Hugh was definitely winning.

Honorable Mentions

MTV Cribs had 17 seasons, so I wanted to highlight some of the underdogs like Shaq, Allen Iverson, and Juelz Santana. The episode for Shaq's California mansion aired in October of 2003 after the Lakers had given up a championship to the San Antonio Spurs. It has indoor and outdoor basketball courts. Another NBA Player that had a fire tour was the man above☝: Allen "The Answer" Iverson. Harlemite Juelz Santana gave a tour of his New Jersey crib, where his son had an attic/bedroom to his own.

It's funny when artists get a bad taste of the business side of the music industry, but that's what happened in the late 2010s to Lil Wayne and Birdman. Although they've patched things up since their legal settlement in 2018, this episode catches a 21-year-old Lil Wayne before his solo career really took off, and shows how close the two really were and the family environment that helped with the success of Cash Money Records. Tony Hawk had not just one of the most popular video games of all-time, but an amazing crib with a skate park in the backyard. Obviously it doesn't compare to Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, but his MTV Cribs was popular because he was arguably the best skateboarder alive.

#1 50 Cent

(19 Bedrooms, 35 Bathrooms, Basketball Court, Pool)

Connecticut

Air Date: November 29, 2007

50 Cent has the greatest episode of MTV Cribs. At this moment in his career, 50 was moving toward the end of his prime and actually started a competition with Kanye West on who would sell more albums the first week of release. 50 had an episode all to himself, and it also featured the other members of G-Unit: Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, and DJ Whookid. 50 actually bought this home from former boxer Mike Tyson🥊, who is ironically making a come back at 54 years old 🤣. It takes 50 4 outfits, a golf cart, and a Vitamin Water ad, to complete his 30-minute tour, but it's all worth it. I mean just imagine now 50 is a mogul, an extremely successful businessman, has a hit TV show, and is one of the pioneers of trolling. WOW!

Hope you enjoyed this Top 5 list! More soon ✌
