After almost 2 years of lockdown, the movies are back, and things are picking up fast.
Spider-Man: No Way Home has already made over $1 billion at the box office, so it's clear people are definitely excited for what's new in cinema, and 2022 is looking like it's ready to live up to the hype.
Here are my Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2022:
The Batman
(Image via Variety)
When it was announced that Robert Pattinson would be dawning the cape and cowl as the next Batman, many were upset. Thousands of people even signed petitions to get Warner Brothers to reconsider the casting, as they were not willing to look past Pattinson's days as Edward in the Twilight Saga.
Since then, three trailers have dropped, and it's safe to say they’ve made many have changed their minds. Director Matt Reeves' The Batman is being set up to be a gritty detective thriller, a fresh take on one of the most iconic superheroes of all time.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One)
(Image via Marvel)
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was one of the biggest movies of 2018, taking home the Oscar for Best Animated Film. Many have argued it to be one the best Spider-Man movies ever made.
The much-anticipated sequel looks like it will try to top the success of the first, as we’re going to be joining Miles Morales again for some more inter-dimensional adventures.
Although not much is known about the plot, we know Miles will be meeting up with 2 new versions of spider-people, Miguel O'Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, voiced by Oscar Isaac and Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Women, voiced by Issa Rae.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
(Image via IMBD)
Although the first Doctor Strange came out over 5 years ago, we are finally getting the sequel. Following the ending to Spider-Man: No Way Home, the MCU opened up the multiverse, and that means endless possibilities and challenges for the Sorcerer Supreme.
Marvel has always tried to keep details about the film top secret (although we’ve seen following Spider-Man: No Way home that it might not be possible). Rumored cameos for this movie include alternate versions of Iron-Man and the introduction of the X-Men and Fantastic Four into the MCU.
What we have confirmed is that Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlet Witch, will be a critical character, and following the events of Wanda Vision on Disney+, who knows what kind of chaos could be coming.

Nope
Very little is known about this project so far, but its horror movie produced by Jordan Peele. How much more do you need to know?
Coming off the success of Get Out, Us, and most recently, Candyman, it's safe to say Jordan Peele doesn’t miss. With a cast including Keke Palmer, Daniel Kaluuya, and Steven Yeun, the movie looks like we might be in for another hit.

Lightyear
(Image via Variety)
In this upcoming Pixar film, we won’t be hanging with Woody and the gang, but instead, we will be going on an animated space adventure with the man that inspired the toy in the Toy Story universe.
Buzz Lightyear will be voiced by Chris Evans in what should be an interesting way to revisit one of Pixar’s most famous characters in a completely new way.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
(Image via Cosmic Circus)
2018’s Black Panther is one of the biggest movies of all time, both at the box office and with its cultural impact. The movie was a massive hit and was the highest-grossing film by a black filmmaker.
We tragically lost the immensely talented Chadwick Boseman in early 2020, one that shocked the entire world. Although we won’t see a reprise in his role, we should all be excited for another trip to Wakanda in what we hope will not only be another hit but a tribute to the one and only king of Wakanda.

Avatar 2
(Image via The Guardian)
Over a decade has passed since James Cameron’s Avatar came out, and after a bunch of delays, we are finally getting the sequel to the highest-grossing movie of all time.
The first was a groundbreaking film from a visual perspective and changed how we make movies. It was like nothing ever seen before, and with all the advancements made in technology over the last 13 years, it should be exciting to see what our next trip to Pandora will look like.

Untitled Super Mario Bros Film
(Image via Irish Film Critic)
Arguably one of the most famous characters in all of video games is getting their first on-screen portrayal since 1993.
This film contains the comically gifted cast of Chris Pratt, Jack Black, Seth Rogan, Keegan Michael-Key, Charlie Day, and Anya Taylor-Joy, in a movie that might be the family movies of the year.
This comes out just in time for the holidays.
